We run after the silence in the storm
The peace that never stays for long
We mend, we build, we get up, we fall
Yet whispers never stop
“That’s not enough, you need to do more”
Even when you do more, it’s still not enough
We keep on smiling even when we doubt
But we still start again regardless
We turn old wounds into gentle raindrops
Every weakness is a lesson we keep
Every grief is a reality we reap
But we still chase perfection
We walk and run through doors that never stay open
Wondering when we are going to rest
Hoping for that one door to remain open
Leaning on our strength and pain, we hide
Even when hope is out of sight
We always find a way to shine through
Some nights are heavier than others
The beauty that lies in uncertainty
Convincing ourselves that tomorrow will worry about itself
We still keep on trying and falling
Standing up to dust ourselves up for what’s next in line
However broken we are, it is still worth it
With the restless hearts and mind
We still manage to build castles out of nothing
It may take a life time, but it is always worth it
We move too slow, they say
But what has life to offer if we move too fast?
Even so, growth is never meant to last
Now here we are, trying cheer those who try once more
To those who open up their hearts
Regardless of what they’ve endured
For the climb is endless and hearts restless
Let’s search for perfection, one breath at a time
Poem Description
The poem talks about the phases of life we go through, searching for perfection. We most of the times want everything to go perfect, we plan our lives out, we set goals and objectives and then we think we are good to go. We chase our dreams with full commitment, unaware that life’s plans include pain, setbacks, and endless cycles of rising again.
