The Last Try

It was a calm midnight,

His soul was not calm at all.

Fury and rage boiled in his once hopeful heart,

A tempest unseen, tearing him apart.

“Give up, give up,”

Voices roared in silence, cruel and sharp.

“Surely I have tried,” he whispered low,

A plea to shadows, to let him go.

The stars above, indifferent and cold,

Watched as his dreams began to fold.

Each step forward had cost too much,

Leaving his spirit bruised to the touch.

The world moved on, relentless, unkind,

While he stayed trapped inside his mind.

No hand reached out, no voice called near,

Only echoes of failure, loud and clear.

Yet in the dark, a spark remained,

A flicker of pride, though weak and strained.

For even in surrender, there lies a fight

The courage to walk away from the night.

Poem Description

This poem delves into the emotional turmoil of giving up after relentless struggle. It portrays the conflict between perseverance and exhaustion, where external silence amplifies inner chaos. The protagonist’s journey reflects the pain of unmet efforts and the quiet strength in acknowledging defeat. Ultimately, it questions whether surrender is weakness or a final act of self-preservation.
