Introduction
Young people are the voice of today and the portal to tomorrow. With them, they carry the burden of the future, and they can transform South Africa into a better, prosperous place. Through their innovation, drive and ambition, young people can reshape the future and destiny of South Africa into a forward thinking, advanced and blossoming nation, competing with other nations across different sectors and fields. Young people have the power to fulfil the country’s potential and spearhead the nation to a new pinnacle.
Young People Are Well Informed
Young people are progressive and have a better understanding of the world today. Education is one of the tools young people use to empower themselves. They can use their knowledge to disrupt the systematic oppression they suffer at the hands of the older generation which seeks to leach onto power without giving an equal chance to young people to have their views and opinions heard. Young people aspire to create a conducive environment for everyone and strive for excellence in every aspect of life. Their opinions are shaped by ideas of progression and enlightenment. They are more invested in societal issues that impact our realities and study the world around them so that they can better comprehend the factors that contribute to these issues. They have the ability and capacity to lead the country in the right direction and bring prosperity.
Technologically Inclined
South Africa is a country that holds great potential, with its vast natural resources and minerals. However, without the proper leadership and guidance, these resources cannot be used effectively to enhance the growth and development of our economy. Young people can usher the country into a new sphere of growth, development and success. Their grasp and knowledge of new emerging technology like AI (Artificial Intelligence), software development, robotics, etc. can produce future leaders in the technological field such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos. Technology can empower young people to create employment opportunities, diversify the country’s economy and accelerate growth. Technology can help improve the work experience, productivity in the workplace, and help businesses achieve a better output.
Lack of Opportunities
Young people have not been given the opportunity to showcase their knowledge, talents and skills to help steer the country forward into a first world country where we can compete with global power in both technology and industrialisation. They don’t have the adequate platform to fully express their views and share their vision as they are frequently side-lined by the current leadership which fails to invest in the young people of the country.
Conclusion
Throughout history, young people have demonstrated their ability to lead and cultivate their own plan of action to overcome obstacles and issues that paralyse society, and prevent the country from growing and developing. Young people also possess the creativity and innovation to develop new methods to combat unemployment, and to slow economic growth through technology and computer science. A lack of opportunities and socioeconomic challenges have prevented the youth from excelling and displaying their true value and capability.
