Parents and Their Responsibilities Towards Children

Introduction

No child asked to be born into this world. Meeting the needs of children is a primary responsibility for any parent. A child is a precious gift, a life, an entire future at stake. Parents must do everything possible to ensure their child’s care and needs are met. Unfortunately, some parents neglect their responsibilities and leave the child to fend for themselves.

The True Role of Parents

Children are human beings, fragile and innocent. It is the parents’ duty to provide everything necessary for them, as children did not decide to be born; this decision comes from the parents. Therefore, one should not bring a child into the world and then refuse to provide for their needs. It is truly regrettable to be a parent and refuse to ensure the well-being of one’s offspring. However, not all parents fail in this duty—many are diligent and do everything possible to care for their children. A child is a life, a soul, a future. It is therefore crucial to provide for them in every way.

For Ignorant and Irresponsible Parents

When parents refuse to meet their child’s basic needs, they should consider the future and ask themselves what will become of the child if they are deprived of essentials today: food, clothing, healthcare, and education. If we see children on our streets, beaches, or by the roadside—neglected, rejected, and abandoned—it is not the fault of these children. They end up in these situations because of the irresponsibility of their parents. This is deplorable, as it gradually undermines an entire future, even a whole generation.

What Should Be Done?

It begins with awareness. Parents must recognize that children are precious gifts. These children did not come into the world by accident—they have a role to play, and only parents and society can support them in fulfilling this role. Therefore, it is essential for parents to ensure proper care for their children.

Conclusion

We must all prioritize the care of children, as they are the hopes of tomorrow. Their well-being today will be a real asset for both parents and society. Ensuring this care should come before anything else.
