THE ESSENCE OF BEING LOVED

Introduction

Characterized by a Give-and-Take, bonding, commitment and vulnerability,  love is an emotion expressed by any animate being. Its opposite, hate, is often felt by hurt, vengeance or guilt due to irreconcilable indifferences. An acclaimed feeling we experience in one way or another is warm, tender and affectionate. It is the universal language everyone can communicate and interact with freely with no bias.

Understanding what love is.

There are several ways through which love is expressed. This could be in correction, gifting, lecturing and emotional intimacy. The mentioned acts form an umbrella of the different love languages we each uniquely identify with. Unfortunately, due to beliefs and perceptions that we have, we tend to misjudge these acts leading to false diagnosis. Why is it important to understand love and its essence before we immerse ourselves in it?

Thanks to dopamine, we have all been subjected to craving love as we continue to evolve. Therefore, we need it. It is this factor that leads us to seek it. Just like cells are broken down in our bodies or plants to release some form of energy, the love drug works in this manner in that the more we receive love, the more our psychological being responds to it by reciprocating and sharing it. This makes us perform even better in our social lives.

How sometimes love hurts.

For every action, there is an equal reaction. Love may win or lose in the end, directly affecting us. We all have different coping mechanisms, which may not be clear to anyone, but to the individual in the picture. Human nature is like survival mode – for every situation, our sub-conscience is naturally wired to evoke solutions on how to respond to problems that arise.

It takes a huge toll on many of us to the point we forget ourselves and neglect our purpose. Bitterness and hopelessness become the rulers of the day. This runs deep to the extent we forget that we once loved someone and vice versa. It is then self-love comes in, learning to embrace self and accepting your flaws.

Conclusion.

Love is needed for growth and exploration. When loved, we surpass the capabilities we thought we could not do and end up performing better. There is no greater feeling when you have a support system that genuinely cares and motivates you to do better, all in the name of love.
