Life gets real when you start questioning the choices that you made
“We learn from our mistakes”, they say
But do we really learn from them?
It even gets harder when we repeat the same mistakes
Thinking we could handle ourselves better
What else has life taught you?
Or you’re still in class learning?
When you think you have it all figured out
It’s when reality strikes you, you’re still learning
You have to learn either the easy or the hard way
It’s not about who has it figured out or not
It’s about how well you can handle yourself in all situations
Meaning, you have to be a man of all seasons
You have to stand your guard, protect yourself at all cost
Life isn’t what we think it is, I just won’t say more
Everything always looks normal until it’s not
Your perspective on everything changes
Not in one night, but eventually, you get it
More lessons keep coming in
It’s either you embrace them or they deal with you the hard way
What else can you do? Is all you ask yourself
The moment you realize that, that’s it
You loosen up and let life do whatever it wants
You can only worry about what you can control
But hey! It’s not that bad, is it?
Poem Description
This poem is a reflection of life as a continuous, challenging classroom. It questions the myth of learning solely from mistakes and argues that true maturity lies not in figuring everything out, but in the capacity to adapt (“a man of all seasons”) and surrender to the flow of lessons. The important message is accepting life’s harsh realities and finding peace by focusing only on what one can control.
