African Ideology or approaches towards political, security, and economic challenges

Introduction

Africa is regarded as an outcast continent. What is the reason for this? Poor governance, which leads to poor natural resource management, is characterized by a failure to examine African challenges from an African perspective, which is in line with African demands for the betterment of Africans. Most African countries are adopting democratic governments. As a result, many nations struggle to fully harness their potential, leading to persistent economic and social challenges.

Political Economic Challenges through Mineral Resources

The majority of African countries have embraced democracy, but they seem to have simply inherited the draconian laws of their colonial overlords, often exacerbating them for their economic advantage and to stay in power. African leaders should enact economic policies that empower the entire population, especially the most vulnerable, and foreign investors in the mineral extraction industry should make sure that local communities benefit and build factories in the host country to create jobs and allow the country to export high-value finished goods rather than cheap raw materials, which is bad for Africa because it leads to the importation of costly finished goods made from locally extracted raw materials.

Security Approach

Security comes first for the development of a country, region, or continent; no country can develop unless it is secure, as both internal and external investment can stimulate the economy. To address the continent’s security challenges, African states, like NATO, must develop their military wing. According to reports from Francophone countries, France controls military strategy in its former colony governments, such as determining who to recruit, what type of equipment to employ, and even prohibiting the use of particular armaments. Burkina Faso, through Ibrahim Traore, demonstrates resilience and the ability to strengthen or ensure security by investing in the military without regard for the limits set by the former colony.

Political Diplomacy

As a means of conducting international relations through communication and negotiations to advocate for peaceful ties, African leaders who do not conform to Western demands and desires are occasionally attacked. Even though most African presidents are legitimately targeted because they are corrupt dictators or violate the human rights of the citizens they lead. Most African countries were harmed or threatened by the suspension of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) due to dependency, and their leaders are now crying foul. There is an exchange of words, which leads to some South African government leaders being threatened with penalties by the United States of America due to a new measure endorsed by the South African government that repositions land from the white minority to the Black majority.

Conclusion

By weaning itself from Western dependency, the African continent must pursue economic and political policies that benefit and suit Africans. Pan-African philosophy must be supported by genuine activities that benefit the majority while also adhering to appropriate governance.
