So much time dedicated to entrepreneurship
Tender documents this minute,
The next minute contacting sub-contractors,
the next minute unpaid overtime
Entrepreneurship can make or break you,
You have to give yourself 1000%
At the cost of personal development,
Dear family and all the things that you adore
You always have to go an extra mile,
work tirelessly because in real essence your business is at the cornerstone of your contribution to it.
Entrepreneurship becomes an identity,
It is enmeshment (it depends on you and
You depend on it)
So many sleepless nights,
So much effort to it,
there’s no break because you’re the foundation of the lucrative business,
You may hire people but at its core you are the founder,
you understand complex operations like the back of your hand
No one can get your vision better than you do,
you can hire all the skill that are there in the world but at the centre of it all you’re the mainstream mastermind
Who understands the project and blueprint better than anyone else.
Poem Description
This poem explores the demanding reality of entrepreneurship, portraying it as an all-consuming commitment that extends far beyond ordinary work. It highlights the constant switching between tasks such as handling tender documents, coordinating subcontractors, and managing unpaid overtime, illustrating the fragmented yet relentless nature of entrepreneurial life. The poem emphasizes the emotional and personal sacrifices involved, including reduced time for family, personal development, and leisure. It presents entrepreneurship as both a calling and an identity, where the founder becomes deeply enmeshed in the business they create. Despite the ability to delegate tasks, the entrepreneur remains central as the primary visionary who understands the business blueprint most intimately. The tone reflects perseverance, exhaustion, and responsibility, showing how success is often tied to continuous effort, sleepless nights, and unwavering dedication. Ultimately, it portrays the entrepreneur as the core architect and sustaining force behind the venture’s existence and direction, and ongoing responsibility.
