Introduction
The recurrent rise in the waters of the Congo River in Kisangani and Kinshasa has become a major cause for concern in recent years. This phenomenon has had considerable repercussions on the environment and public health, and has led to numerous population displacements. In this article, we look at the causes and consequences of this rising water level, as well as the essential measures that need to be taken to mitigate this growing threat in the near future.
Environmental and health causes and consequences
The rising waters of the Congo River are largely attributed to the climate changes our planet has been experiencing for decades. The distant origins of this climate change lie in deforestation and other human activities. These factors have contributed to more frequent and intense flooding, threatening biodiversity, water quality and the health of riverside populations. Flooding also leads to the spread of water-borne diseases such as cholera and polio, increasing the burden on the already fragile Congolese health system.
Recurrent flooding forces many families to leave their homes, leading to mass displacement and humanitarian crises. In the city of Kisangani, the neighbourhoods of Kisanga (Kisanga Island), Cimestan, Iate, etc. have fallen victim to this scourge over the past five years. In Kinshasa, several communes have suffered the same fate, including Gombe, Barumbu, etc. These forced displacements disrupt the normal course of community life, causing economic losses and exacerbating social tensions at both national and regional level.
Measures to be taken to limit rising sea levels
Immediate and long-term measures are needed to deal with this growing threat. It is imperative that the DRC government invest in protective infrastructure for riverside populations, restore riparian ecosystems, promote sustainable agricultural practices and raise awareness of the risks associated with flooding. In addition, international cooperation is essential to developing regional prevention and adaptation strategies. These measures are urgently needed and essential for the DRC, which is seeing several of its riverside villages flooded.
Conclusion
The rising waters of the Congo River in Kisangani and Kinshasa are a major challenge that requires immediate action. By understanding the causes and consequences of this phenomenon, and by implementing effective measures, we can hope to mitigate the impact of flooding and protect vulnerable communities along the Congo River.

Bonjour mon jeune frère Patrick Isamene. Je suis très ravi de lire ton article sur notre majestueux fleuve Congo. Pour résoudre les problèmes de la montée de ce fleuve, je propose deux solutions :
1. Premièrement, on doit enlever le sable tout le long du fleuve ;
2. On doit sensibiliser la population sur la gestion de déchets, car une grande partie de nos déchets de déverse dans le fleuve à travers les rivières.
