Cultural Impact towards Nationalism In African Cup of Nations.

Soccer has become a cultural practice in Africa. It has promoted and created a massive increase in African nationalism; the governments of most African nations encourage national dance and music groups, museums, and to a lesser degree, artists and writers to participate and explore their talent skills, and creativity. Indulging and promoting the cultural heritage of Africa, especially in soccer popularly known as the world’s greatest sport “ football” has a great untapped potential to transform Africa’s cultural and creative landscape. Football is not only the preeminent sport on the African continent but is the single greatest cultural unifier. Nothing else unites people like football. Some years ago the cultural impact was played out during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa—for the first time, this global celebration was staged on African soil—where the vuvuzela became a symbol of the event. Its popularity created a boom for manufacturers and became associated with the sport’s culture globally. The long plastic horn said to have once been used to galvanize members for communal meetings is now used globally, not only at soccer matches but at boisterous political rallies.  The Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2021 was broadcast in over 157 countries, with a viewership of 65 million in Nigeria alone. The matches also gained high levels of engagement on various social media platforms such as TikTok, which garnered a whopping 2.5 billion views under the afcon2021 hashtag, a long-awaited written cultural recovery is gradually taking place as African heroes are coming together globally to promote their cultural heritage.

The US and French governments are supporting the Ministry of Health of Côte d’Ivoire, in a press conference with embassy representatives. The fact still stands that malaria is the leading cause of high morbidity rates in Africa, The African continent carries a disproportionately high share of the global malaria burden. In 2022, the continent will observe about 94% of malaria cases (233 million) and 95% (580,000) of malaria deaths. As 24 nations will be represented in this year’s AFCON tournament and more than 1.5 million visitors are expected to attend the competition in Côte D’Ivoire, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of Côte d’Ivoire and the RBM Partnership to End Malaria hosted a press conference having the international artist Didi B joins the Zero Malaria F.C. and raise awareness of the disease and urge greater action. Africans are delighted to join the malaria fight and support the efforts of the RBM Partnership to end malaria. It is unacceptable that this disease continues to kill a child every minute. Young people in Africa need to understand that they have a role to play in this important fight. Malaria hinders our creativity, skills, talents, and ability to shine and realise as true Africans
