GEN Z

Why you should be a proud GEN Z!

Introduction

Between being called a head-down generation, Internet addicts and non-conformists, it’s fair to say that the 1997-2010 generation, known as Z, hasn’t always been the most appreciated! And yet, thanks to our perseverance, so many positive changes have been made. That’s why it’s important to remind ourselves of the reasons why we should be proud of ourselves, dear zoomers.

Our heightened awareness of mental health issues and discrimination

We are a generation of aware people and this is the first reason why we should be proud of ourselves. We are aware of mental health problems: burn-out, depression, mental workload, the various pressures we face, and instead of ignoring them or normalising them, we are providing preventive solutions, in particular by raising awareness. We are aware that differences and particularities are perfectly normal and we advocate inclusion.

Our commitment

One thing you can’t blame zoomers for is a lack of commitment. Virtually every zoomer has a social cause close to their heart that they’re willing to commit to. Whether it’s ecology, respect for human rights, equality, education or the environment, we’re forming a generation of people who are committed and sensitive to the facts around them!

Our world of work

Yes, we are gradually succeeding in changing the codes of the world of work. We are a generation that prefers team-based, concrete projects and experimentation. Whereas before, work had to be hard and unrelenting and seen solely as an activity that generated the income needed to lead a peaceful life, with our generation, work is becoming a source of personal fulfilment. Similarly, for zoomers, flexibility at work is a priority, which is only beneficial. Gen Z is attracted by new ways of working, such as freelancing and teleworking. Work is not meant to drain us dry, hence the popular concept of quiet quitting, which has taken off even more since break my soul. We work to live, not live to work.

Our openness to digital

Finally, while we have often been criticised for our addiction to social networking, what we can be proud of is that we represent a generation of people who are at ease with mobile devices and the digital world. In fact, these days they are more than just a prerequisite for new professional projects! Even old businesses are going digital these days. How many new jobs have been created thanks to our generation’s openness to technology? Many more than you might think, starting with the famous job of community manager.

Conclusion

While it’s true that every generation has its faults, and ours has quite a few, it’s still important to recognise our qualities and our various positive influences on the world.  Dear zoomers, we can be proud of ourselves. Above all, let’s continue to have a positive impact on the world!
