Introduction
Africa is home to some virtually unknown tourist attractions. The continent is considered to be one of the most emblematic tourist destinations. Here are some unknown tourist sites…
#1- The Serengeti
Known for its vast plains, abundant wildlife, and annual wildebeest and zebra migration, this area is considered to be one of the seven natural wonders of the world. This great park attracts thousands of travelers who want to see a variety of wildlife, including the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino) with magnificent scenery.
What’s more, the Serengeti is flanked by the world’s largest game reserve, Ngorongoro, home to the Ngorongoro Crater. It is rare to find an ecosystem that easily offers a view of the Big Five in a single day. The National Park is world-renowned and stands out from the rest for its iconic status in tourism.
#2- Kenya
Home to Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya welcomes visitors from all over the world every year. The ‘cradle of the world’, this country is the most marvellous theatre of wildlife on earth. This extraordinary ‘Noah’s Ark’ is home to the highest concentration of different animal species in the world, and offers a unique intimacy with nature. The Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo) are king here, living side by side with the rarest species in the animal world. The fantastic landscapes, born of prehistory, are their playground: savannahs, lakes, forests, mountains, volcanoes, caves, and immense white sandy beaches provide the ideal backdrop for magnificent memories… Kenya is home to many traditional ethnic groups. It’s not just about ‘Out of Africa’ safaris. It has tropical beaches and trekking trails. The highly reputed Masai contribute to the exotic nature of tourism in this superb East African destination.
# 3- Morocco
With its city of Marrakech, this country welcomes millions of visitors. Located in North Africa, it has become a very popular tourist destination.
#4. Nan Hua Buddhist Temple, South Africa
South Africa is home to the largest Buddhist temple in Africa. The temple is located in the suburb of Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa.
#5. The Devil’s Pool in Zambia
This African country boasts a small pool in Africa’s largest waterfall. During the dry season (September-December), water levels in the Zambezi River are at their lowest. The natural water from the Devil’s Basin overflows into this pool. To get there, you can go to this magical place by boat. Then you can cross the bridge to the Zimbabwean side of the falls for a wildlife trek and bungee jumping.
#6. Nyungwe Forest, Rwanda
Kagame’s country also boasts the great Nyungwe Rainforest. It is located in the south-western part of Rwanda, bordering Burundi to the south and Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. Nyungwe’s biodiversity is astonishing by African standards, making it one of the most species-rich endemic regions in the whole of Africa. It is the largest expanse of forest in East or Central Africa. In terms of accommodation, Nyungwe Forest Lodge effortlessly combines five-star service excellence with African hospitality, guaranteeing an experience rich in local culture and history.
#7. Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Tanzania is home to the world’s highest mountain. The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is the most rewarding and challenging hike. A place much loved by mountaineers. You only have to traverse four climatic zones (rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and ice cap) to confirm this. With each climb, the views increase spectacularly: valleys engulfed by clouds, moonlight reflecting off the summit glaciers and the overall landscape of sub-Saharan Africa as far as the eye can see.
#8. Rift Valley, Kenya
This beautiful stretch of land lies among extinct volcanoes. Traces of ancient eruptions can be found all around the region in the form of lava rocks, stretching for miles. On foot, you’ll encounter the friendly smile of the pastoral Maasai tribe, dressed in bright red and busy with their livestock. Near Lake Turkana, beautifully beaded men, women, and children greet you with tribal dance steps.
#9. Ouidah, Benin
Situated between Togo and Nigeria, the town of Ouidah is rich in beauty, culture, and history. It is the cradle of the voodoo region. Every January, it hosts the annual Voodoo Festival, an amazing and vibrant celebration of the Voodoo faithful. You can enter the Temple of the Sacred Pythons around the neck for a photo opportunity. You can also walk through the sacred Kpassé forest along the slave trade route to visit the slave barracks, the auction block, and the very moving and emotional Gate of No Return.

Its landscapes, the ‘Big Five’, and its people force tourists to love this part of the world. One village away is Etosha National Park, which is one of the largest game reserves in the whole of Africa.
