TAILORING YOUR JOB SEARCH FOR REMOTE WORK: Tips for Finding and Landing Remote Positions

Remote Work

The Covid pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns pushed businesses worldwide to adopt remote working almost overnight. “Remote”, “Hybrid”, and “Compressed” – are some of the buzzwords that emerged since the advent of the pandemic to describe the new world of work. And many millions of people around the world now spend as much, if not more, of their working week out of the office than in it. This unprecedented shift to remote work looks like it could be here to stay. Fully remote work is any job or position where you don’t have to work from your company’s office. Meaning you could work while relaxing on your couch.

How to Land a Remote Job

Landing a remote job is quite easy. Follow these following tips and you are good to go. First and foremost, LinkedIn should be your best friend! Set that profile up, with all the necessary information about yourself and use it to market yourself. Follow the companies that you would like to work for (such as Flexjobs), and set up job alerts for the specific job roles that you would like, you need a quiet workspace as well, however, DO NOT BREAK THE BANK BY RENTING OUT SPACE.

Stand Out to Recruiters

It’s vital that you stand out to recruiters, you need to show that you’re a self-motivated person and a self-starter. These two traits make the recruiters believe that you don’t need supervision to get your work done. One of the ways to portray this is by constantly learning, and adding to your CV when it to the recruiters you don’t. Since the opportunity to explain yourself to them face-to-face is not there, you’ll be communicating through your CV, so you need to constantly be learning new things that you can plug into your CV. Luckily, some platforms provide refresher courses to help people remain up-to-speed with job requirements, like Google, LinkedIn or Coursera.

Getting Paid

Now one can either get paid on PayPal, while other companies make a direct transfer into your account, however, there is a dedicated platform for online workers that was designed in the USA, and it is backed up by Chase Bank (an American bank) which issues a virtual bank card which can be used anywhere.

Conclusion

Fully remote work is quickly becoming one of the most attractive job setups for workers around the globe. The freedom to choose when and where to work is too good to pass up! Follow the tips listed here and you’ll be able to easily transition to a remote position when you find an attractive job opportunity.
