The Mysterious Mother

I know of a mysterious mother

Loaded with words that can murder.

A daily target she made her only daughter

Whose fragile soul her actions gradually slaughter.

Then she comes with her sweet words saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

Sometimes, she breaks her daughter’s fasting with threats from broken bottles

And feeds her with curses for breakfast

Only to launch another at lunchtime

And decides if to deny or disown her at dinner.

Then she ends the day with her sweet words saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

She bathes her with rain of insults every morning

And clothe her with the garment of mourning.

She maltreats her without number

And deprives her of getting a Matric Number

Only to shower her with her sweet words saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

She turns deaf ears to her screams

And her tears flows like a stream

in which she washes blood stains

Off her conscience to avoid being called Cain.

Then she goes on her knees to plead with her sweet words saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

She registered her in the School of Thought

Where she left her feeble mind

wandering the many paths of life

and wondering

Why she was born into this wicked world.

But yet again, those sweet words are heard echoing in her thought and whispering saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

Those are the comforting words

Dished to the ears of the innocent girl she sometimes call her honey

Who will always forgive her merciless mummy

Whenever she comes with her sweet words saying

« My darling daughter

Don’t mind mummy.

It’s just that I sometimes lost my temper

When there’s no money ».

Description du poème

#Saynotochildabuse
