Indigenous Futurism, Afrofuturism,
The road to liberty, unrestricted dreams.
Resistance was sparked by a rising tide,
A united force, and a decolonizing culture.
Combining technology and customs,
Removing obstacles and imagining a varied,
Equitable and free future
A world outside the colonial necessity.
Our voices thunder in this room,
Our stories and myths,
Which enhance the world and transcend fate,
Are no longer hushed.
In the centre of Afrofuturism,
A sun with the strongest prism shines.
In the homeland of Indigenous Futurism,
A vision of our past, present and future.
From the savannahs to the heavens,
Our reality grows as our imaginations unfold.
In the stories we tell, in the images we create,
We shatter the spell and the bonds.
Indigenous Futurism’s tapestry,
Its colours unspoken, the beats and strong melodies of Afrofuturism.
Our hearts are exposed, our eyes are opened,
Because our culture never failed, we regain it.
Our mission is to decolonize culture
By planting the seeds of truth, progress and class.
Indigenous Futurism and Afrofuturism
Pave the road and create a kingdom.
We sing and depict a picture of civilisations thriving
When freedom is rightfully ours,
In a future created by our own hands,
Where our power is restored, and our lands are remanded.
No more suffering, oppression,
The scars we have are evidence of our gains.
An inclusive world was Indigenous Futurism,
And Afrofuturism is respected for their diversity in colour and voice.
Our realities are linked,
Our dreams are in harmony,
And we celebrate our cultures
As we move forward and shine in the future,
We have created for ourselves.
