How to take better photos by just using your Smartphone

In the last couple of years, photography and technology have changed a lot. The way we experience photography through computers, smartphones and tablets has changed even the way we communicate with each other – thanks to platforms like Snapchat, facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Nowadays you don’t necessarily need a professional DSLR Camera anymore to take great photos of just about anything. Do you have a Smartphone? Perfect! The new Smartphones already come with a lot of photo settings. But I can really recommend getting the Snapseed app from the app store. It is free of charge and you can easily edit your photos: from filter pre-settings to vintage looks, black and white – everything is simple to find. You can even tune your image individually with colors, warmth, vignetting, cropping – almost everything a professional photo editor would need.

But a good photo editing app is just the first step. To make your photo more interesting, try to change your perspective sometimes. Perhaps taking a step back or looking at the subject from a new angle could easily improve your photography. Or try to capture something in the foreground. This way you have a more interesting perspective and see even more of the surroundings. And you don’t always have to put your subject in the middle of the picture.

By trying these new ways of improving your photography, you can highlight elements of the photograph that are of interest, such as saturation, warmth, vignetting, or detail. You can also change the way the viewer perceives the subject of the photograph by trying a new angle!

Try these new techniques to and tell your own story of Africa! You can send us photos by submitting your images to us via Facebook or using #AfrikanGallery on Instagram.
