What is healthy eating and why should we do it?

Eating is a very important part of our lives and we can improve our physical and mental welfare by eating healthily, improving our lives.

THE EFFECT OF EATING HEALTHILY
Eating has a direct effect on our long term health. By eating the right foods we are able to give our body the tools it needs to live for a long time and stay away from giving it things that can potentially shorten how long we live for. Reducing the amount of fatty foods that we consume is a good way of achieving this. Eating lots of fatty foods can cause serious heart problems. Fatty foods contain lots of bad cholesterols. Bad cholesterols can block up the blood vessels in our body limiting or preventing blood from getting to our essential organs. In recent years, there has been a sharp increase of the number of people who are obese as a result of unhealthy eating habits and this can pose serious threats to their health.

WHY IS HEALTHY EATING IMPORTANT

We can also use our diet to prepare our body to fight off disease. The human body requires certain things to be able to maintain our vital organs healthily. Carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins are examples of key things that are bodies need. A healthy intake of these things will protect us from disease by maintaining a healthy body.
Eating healthily is particularly important for children. Children’s body develop quickly and it’s important that they are eating healthily to ensure they develop healthily. A child’s bones grow very quickly as a child grows, it is important that a child’s diet includes key ingredients. Calcium and certain vitamins are important in healthy bone growth and can be found in foods like milk, eggs and certain vegetables.
Eating well can also improve your mood. Your mood can fluctuate throughout the day depending on the levels of different substances in your body e.g. sugar levels. Sometimes having lots of sugar can make you feel very energetic. However, later that energy can disappear quickly and leave you feeling tired and less happy. It is also important to drink enough water. When we drink water it allows our body to stay hydrated. When hydrated, our brain is able to concentrate better and think more clearly.
